December 3rd, 2006 | by lissie |Plans are firming up - just done the cashflow projects for the trip and I do have the ready cash for at least first 1/2 of it which is good.
Paul got his bonus so along with a nice tax refund he’s looking good. The answer to him getting leave without pay was NO - but all good in the end because they did make a point of saying they would like to employ him again - and given he’s got no long-service benefits - he’s really in no worse a situation - just more flexible.
I can at least imagine getting to March now at work - maybe that ’s because there is only 3 weeks until Xmas and then we both have two weeks off.
So March here we come ! I’ve been trawling the internet car sales sites and am convinced we can get a decent enough vehicle for about A$10,000 plus another $1,000 for camping stuff. At that sort of price point hopefully we wont loose too much on the re-sale either. Queensland is looking like a good state to purchase in. Its pretty expensive to not sell in the same state as you purchased in - and NSW requires you to have a mechanical check when registration is due - Queensland does not - only when you sell it. Queensland also has lots of vehicles that are suitable for the expedition.
