Well Truckie wasn’t quite fixed – still had problems getting it started and did go out garnet prospecting and ended up with a handful of gem quality stones- a bit different and quite good fun to do. Resisted getting the stones cut and and set – that would have put the cost of the day up a lot! So back the 140km to Alice Springs to have another got with the electric which resulted in a new switch to start the glow plugs and a new battery. The guy spend over 3 hrs. on it but only charged us for 2 so you can’t argue with that! Anyway finally we were off to the beach – and the warmth – the cold mornings and nights were starting to get old so we are off to the coast by the direct road – the Plenty Highway – 2000km to Rockhampton.
