Almost – 500km got us within about 1km of the border – and here is the main point of interest along that road- I know because both guidebooks we have made a point of the very large termite mound 50km east of Jervois! Truck is now starting OK thank goodness. There is nothing at Jervois but a small camping area run by the station which also sells fuel and a few basic groceries. There was a couple there with a small caravan who had been there 10 days – they broke an axle a few kilometres from the station (it must have been bad luck as the road wasn’t that bad). The local owner managed to use his truck to lift the wheels on one side while they towed it in minus one wheel – interesting what you can manage when there is no AA to call! Unfortunately the tow truck had been unable to get through from Mt Isa – about 350km away – because of the rain – he turned up before we left and they looked very happy to see him!
