One more detour before we get to the coast. was this rather beautiful national park with a constantly running river (the unusual type in Australia). By now we are counting the days until the kids go back to school – do parents just become deaf? I didn’t think I was that sensitive to noise but I am well over screaming children and their parents now! We finally saw some other non-Australian tourists too. Since we left Alice Springs I don’t think we’ve met a non-Ozzie travelling. It really does seem that the overseas tourists stick very much to the coast plus Ayers Rock – which is a bit of a shame really – its hard to describe but there is something really impressive with the wide open spaces inland Australia. Today we crossed the dividing range – 440-odd metres of it – but there were actually hills – well it wasn’t dead flat anyway!
