Equipment malfunctions
July 31st, 2007 | by lissie |Yes we are still here! Its just that the electronic world has not really made it very far up Cape York! I have a really nice post all ready to go - unfortunately the laptop was one of the casualities of the corrugations - its basically fine but won’t allow you to type anything in - so its in for a service now and I am at an internet cafe in Cairns! The other casuality was a tyre- we blew one less than 20km from the sealed road coming south to Cairns - in the words of the Toyota ad Bugger! At least we are getting a couple of reasonably priced replacements being put on in Cairns it would have been a lot worse anywhere else. The tyre didnt just have a hole - its stuffed totally so we took this as a sign to replace the 2 worst tyres. The rest of truckie is fine - well is now we have spend 1hr and $20 in the car wash getting most of the dust out - dust everywhere - much worse than anywhere else we have been - probably because of the amount of traffic on the road. When we did the tyre we have at least 5 people pass or stop inside 30minutes!
