Finding our way around Perth

We ventured south today to a suburb called Rockingham - clear water, beautiful beaches (a bit cool for swimming though), a oil refinery, a nickel smelter and an aluminum smelter, oh and a bulk grain terminal - weird. Doesn’t seem to affect property prices though - over $600k for a 1 bed apartment on the foreshore with a nice view - so long as you don’t look in the wrong direction! Perth apparently has a big problem with urban sprawl, but we are impressed by the new freeways and the new railway lines that they run down the middle of the freeway - with a flyover bus interchange as often as not - an integrated approach to city transport - a very un-NZ attitude!
