Dance Scene in Perth

Well the short answer is that you can do a social Rock&Roll, Swing Latin Ballroom, Swing New Vogue dance very weekend in Perth. We went to a local bowling club and in about 2 hours learnt the rockabilly, the El Paso, Shadow Salsa and a line dance waltz whose name escapes me. At the end the announced the Merrilyn and put on some decent foxtrot - well it was nice dance floor and figure we dont’t have to pretend not to be able to do the Merrilyn - given that we clearly hadn’t been able to do anything else. Big mistake, every one else had to sit down and take note of my beautiful arms (any one who tells Bryce this will be hunted down and shot! ) . Well at least we didn’t fall over, or forget the steps, odd the performance thing doesn’t bother me still - I thought it might after so long. I am pretty sure that my feet are going to bother me tomorrow. Which is a pity because we are off to a social dance which promises all types of dance, $5 entry including a beer/wine and a $10 for a roast dinner. Its good being a dancer you don’t have to develop a social life - just find where the local dance is!

I didn’t think it would take you long to find some dancers!

Hi Lissie, I am new to Perth (relocated from Tasmania) and would be interested in finding out about dance schools and competitions in Perth. Who are the best? How do you find a partner? Many thanks :)
