First Dance Competition in Perth

October 7th, 2007 | by lissie |

Well OK we only watched, but it was an interesting trip which did get us both thinking about getting into competition again. The location was a function centre which seemed to have a resident studio and came complete with a bar, parquet floor, and a glitter ball (in order of importance). The competition seemed to be a smaller local one but there were about 75 entries including 31 adults, 13 masters (seniors) and 20 juveniles. There are few different rules here level 1 (E grade) is no costumes, and when they dance up a grade they didn’t change into costume. Also seniors aren’t allowed to dance adult as well. But everyone is allowed to enter the Open Grade in their age range - which is a 4 dance event with 5 dances in the final so you have to know Viennese Waltz and Paso Doble and a lot of the New Vogue dances what a really good idea New Zealand officials!
We went to a social dance on Friday night and we won’t be venturing onto the competition floor this year but maybe later…
