So what is Social Networking?

Something worked -I’m not quite sure why it worked - but its called stumbleupon Its a social bookmarking site where you kinda vote for sites you like - I don’t really understand it and find it hard to see the point. I voted for my new India Travel tips page and suddenly instead of having 50 odd visitors (which I thought was pretty good in a few hours) I have over 200! This site broke 70 visitors in a day - its never had more than 20 since I change the domain name a few weeks ago!

So could someone who understands social networking or Web 2.0 please tell me what happened? And how can make it happen again!
