Went a saw the first day of the Red Bull Air Race over the Swan River on Saturday. OK I’d never heard of it either! Basically its a low-level acrobatic race through blow-up pillions anchored over water - Perth was the final with previous races this year in places like London Istanbul and San Diego amongst others. It was on the south side of the river so it was nice view across to the skyscrapers. I took probably a couple of hundred photos - but really needed a very long telephoto to get anything really good! We were very close to the action too - not bad for free. The decided it wasn’t a good idea to drive given the 300,000 odd crowd they were expecting, so took the ferry across the river to the vantage point. The ferry’s then stopped once the racing started, so we had to walk all the way back which was a fair hike. Glad we didn’t go on the Sunday - it was 30C and looked a lot more crowded on TV!
