So this is a meme
November 6th, 2007 | by lissie |You learn the odd new word every now and then and I had come accross the term “meme” in blogs a couple of times without bothering to find out what its is. Turns out that its actually a term coined over 30 years ago derived from the Greek, in the context of genes, meaning “to imitate”. No I wasn’t expecting that either! Its about passing on a bit of information, to other bloggers, as a way to connect to other sites that you might not already read. So the idea is the original blog asks for some simple information and then tags someone else’s blog to tell them what their answers are so here goes:
1. How long have you been blogging?
Just over a year - I started this blog in preparation for a big trip out of the country and in the process of finishing work and renting out our home.
2. What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?
I just wanted a way of communicating with friends which didn’t involve maintaining a whole list of email addresses. I thought the medium was perfect for a combined travel diary/ slide show without friends having to wait for the photos at the end of the trip.
3. Are You trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?
I am trying to replace my IT career with an online income. This blog wasn’t initally for money making, I had other sites more focussed on that, but this was has evolved a bit along the way.
4. Tell me 3 things you LOVE about being online.
Learning so much new stuff, didn’t know what social networking or Web 2.0 was when I started.
Meeting new people in the virtual world without worrying about leaving home, or my laptop.
The instant feedback you get, especially with blogs
5. Tell me 3 things you STRUGGLE with in the online world.
Its addictive - it can be 3 in the morning an forgot to go to bed!
Its hard to stay focussed sometimes - to concentrate on the writting and not check the Adsense earnings for the 10th time today.
Marketing doesn’t come naturally - but I’m working at it!

You did a great job but you forgot one important part of the meme - you have to Tag 5 others to pass this on. lol.

Forgot to go to bed! Hah.. that sounds familiar. We’re in the same league although i sometimes wonder what I have been doing during the long hours. Time really flies when you are in the net.But it’s fun, isn’t?

Its great to have something totally absorbing again - work did it for a while but not for the last few years! I just want to make a living wage out of this - that would be awesome!
