I won a writing contest !

February 24th, 2008 | by lissie |

The HubLove Contest has proved strangley compelling the daily topics are varied but they seem to put all the one’s I’m interested in on the days I work 12 hours and then do dance practice! So initally I struggled with football” and Chicago“, “healthwas better - but then got style - dance style obviously! On a long working day! The minimum word limit is 300 so I admit initially I went for the 300 odd words - I mean how much can you write about about Rugby anyway? The shorter travel health articles I intend to re-cycle into promotional stuff for midlifetravel anyway. Come Thursday I was tired but really couldn’t resist “investment”. For a while I’ve thought about writing something about NZ Property Investment - but from my experience doing the New Vogue hubs I knew it would hard to split up the topic into separate hubs. Damme it I thought - I will go for broke, do a really good article and aim to win - winning gives you 5 points, entering an article is 1 point. Well 2200 words later - I published and went to bed - vaguely wondering how many typos, and missing words had slipped thru but too tired to care. Next morning - Friday only 3 hours work thank goodness - I got home at 8am to find lots of comments - odd? Checked the forum - and voila I had won! And there weren’t too many odd words missed out!

So winning hub of the day is New Zealand Property Investment

After a bit of a nap I had to try Friday’s topic: money” this time I did one longer article with several shorter ones, I could have done more but ran out of time. I managed a second place with Managing your Travel Money, beaten by a hub on saving money on your wedding, which I was pleasantly surprised at given that the American judge probably has never down long-term travel!

Style was for fun running thru the New Vogue dances because I finally found some good videos: check out this one on NV Foxtrots to see Philip and Kerri Porter dancing in London- they used to be based in Wellington for many years.

This weekend the topics have bee rubbish : China, the one place I have no real desire to travel to, followed by POETRY! Well I am not aiming to win - but to stay on the leader board so that I can the link back to my profile- currently I’m in 9th place, but I think the top ranking non-American!
